The first day is the hardest.

It was a tear factory this morning! Saying goodbye to my parents, especially after not having to for roughly five years, really hurt. I haven't cried that much since Frankenstein went sailing in the portal to limbo in The Monster Squad. And no, I didn't just watch it last week.

I cherish the last words my father spoke to me before we got in the car to leave. "Go be a good man," he said. And I will do just that! They are the best parents a son could ask for. I miss them so much already!

Onto FDU, where Osama bin Laden, if he was still alive, could gain entry if he wore a pair of shades at the security gate. I got to see a small group of my friends who wanted to see me off one last time. The move leading up to this didn't warrant me a weekend to go visit them, so we made the best of an hour and a half with a walk around the mansion and many many recollections and shared laughs! I think I frightened my friends's girlfriends with stories of our past antics. Eh, they'll come around!

To top it all off, we had to haul some major ass from northern New Jersey to Baltimore in time for dinner at the Mongolian Grill with friends from a film I worked on called Browncoats: Redemption. Some of my best filmmaking memories come from being on-set on that picture or the late-night editing sessions with the director. I can't believe it made it this far and we still have a few months to go!

With all the crying, laughing and various other points on the emotional spectrum from today, I must say, my head hurts. Like pounding. But in a good way! I am going to get some much-earned rest in a comfy bed from my awesome Captain!

Next stop: a town outside of Louisville, KY. It will be a hard push, but we'll make it! Thanks for enjoying the journey with us!
