Strangely, I don't have them! This trip has the feeling of being a long, enduring drive, with those amazing memorable moments thrown in between. Specifically, memorable moments in between audiobooks and staying with friends and family along the way! We've made all kinds of preparations for lodging, travel accommodations, having food in the car, oil changes, tire checks, laundry, and rest in between.
For the entertainment aspect of the trip, we'll be enjoying the smooth vocal narration of audiobooks. For the first round, we've chosen the three His Dark Materials books, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Unabridged), Craig Ferguson: American On Purpose, The Ricky Gervais Guide to the Human Body, and all seven books of Stephen King's magnum opus, The Dark Tower. It'll save on conversation, because even after two days on the road, we'll most likely run out of things to say to each other. Won't any couple?
To further the entertainment, we're also doing a fundraiser for one of our favorite organizations, Kids Need to Read. Check out "Get The Bachak to PJ" on Facebook! Its a wonderful charity encouraging imagination and reading literacy in our youth! Donate and get our beloved alien to California!
This is the chance of a lifetime and I will be taking every advantage of that. I won't worry about finding a job until we arrive in Seattle. I won't worry about running out of money. I won't get frustrated and remain fluid. I won't fall asleep at the wheel.
I recollect my first journey down to my alma mater, Fairleigh Dickinson University, as a freshman. The drive felt like an eternity, unloading my items for the room was a time-slowing chore. And after my parents drove out of my sight, I had a mini-panic attack outside my dorm. I thought about it, all by myself, in a strange, new place, with no idea what the hell I'm doing. This time, it'll be different, promise. I won't be alone, to start. The other two... I'll get back to you on!
